English As A Second Language

I have learned from Ms. Cynthia for several years. I didn’t expect that I would learn from her for that long. Her way of teaching is interactive and individual. She is good at finding both the students’ needs and strengths. As an ESL teacher, not only does she provide educational resources to improve their English, but also with information about good opportunities to learn English in the real world, like local events or activities that everyone could join and enjoy. She also leads groups, such as the intercultural cooking group and the green team. She is active
and enthusiastic. She planned and conducted field trips regularly. We enjoyed mingling with
other students outside of the classroom and learning things that enrich our lives. I have lots of fun memories—nature hikes at a local trail and clean-up walks around the school neighborhood. I also liked the art activities in her classroom. Art is one of her specialties. We enjoyed drawing or crafting, and the conversation with the classmates.

Going out and meeting people is the ideal and efficient way to learn languages. Not only do I
learn English from her, but also how to enjoy life here. I gradually felt like I could be part of the community and that motivated me to keep learning English. The more outgoing I became, the more confident I could become. The suggestions or information that she gave me are always helpful and have worked well to improve my English. Ms. Cynthia has helped me go forward and go through the path that leads to where I can be more myself. She is a real educator.  ---- Isuzu

Memoirs

"I was nervous about talking about my life to someone I'd never met, but Cynthia put me at ease right away. She was incredibly patient and kind. She asked just the right questions to prompt my memories when I lost my train of thought. She managed to put together coherent narratives from my jumbled thoughts! She had a sense of humor and was always welcoming. I really enjoyed the whole experience." - Dorothy

"I was amazed at how people of different backgrounds and abilities in Cynthia's memoir class showed great improvement in their writing styles. We had fun ,too!" - Minnette B.

Social Media

Cynthia helped me kick start my social media presence by teaching me how to set up my posts to automatically post to multiple sites, and on scheduled days and times.  She understood my needs, and offered excellent suggestions on how to best present the information so it will reach the maximum number of people. Her teaching style is very clear and understandable, and I feel much more confident now because of her help. Her enthusiasm is contagious! Presentations

This was one of the most exciting presentations I've seen in decades. You are dealing with the future of humanity and I really appreciate that you have taken this on. You've actually given me a possible pathway for active work/activism when I finally retire.
